The weekened summed up.
Well, I had a decent time this weekend. At MOCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art), I bought a few comics, got a few shirts, ran into some familiar artists I have met before, and met some new ones. Thanks to all of the BlueSky Studios people that sketched in my moleskine book (Michael Knapp, Robert MacKenzie, Peter and Vincent Nguyen, and Nash Dunnigan), Mike Cavallaro, Jonathan Lopez, Pedro Camargo, Andrew Bell, Kevin Colden, Dave McKenna, Euralis Weekes, Hyeonda Park, Gorde(forgot your whole name, my bad), Damien Lambert, JiaXiang Rong, etc. The highlight though was when I got to meet Rick Lacy, which did character design for my favorite show, The Venture Bros., and he now does storyboards I think. My friend introduced me to him since the know each other. He even got Rick to sketch in my book. The funniest part was he did a sketch of Brock Samson, my favorite character, and I didn't even ask for him. Thanks Rick, you made my fucking day!Sunday, June 10, 2007
Paprika!
I saw the new movie by Satoshi Kon, Paprika, last night. It was awesome! It was visually amazing, the story was good/interesting, and the music by Susumu Hirasawa was great! I got the soundtrack, and it's great! I just like how everything tied in with this movie. I've been a fan of Satoshi Kon since Perfect Blue. I even had the chance to meet him back at BAAF 2003 (Big Apple Anime Fest), when I worked the autograph booth. He gave me a signed/sketched on Tokyo Godfathers poster, which is still one of my greatest items ever. He truly is amazing. I recommend for people to see the movie, as well as Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, and Tokyo Godfathers if you haven't already.
